Alpine Edge Climbing Gym
Welcome to the grand opening of Alpine Edge climbing gym!
Alpine Edge is a judgment-free zone where everyone, from beginners to seasoned climbers, is genuinely thrilled to see you tackle the wall and celebrate your progress.
Initial Logo Sketches
Alpine Edge almost wasn’t Alpine Edge. Some other names that were strongly considered in the process of forming this brand were “Peak Dimension” and “Geoscape.” Alpine Edge was the winning name because it’s short and punchy. It also allowed for fun, creative logo approaches.
Logo Digital Explorations
After sketching out some rough ideas with pencil and paper, I chose the logo concepts I felt were the strongest and worked in Illustrator to make them digital. I still hadn’t settled on a brand name yet, so I stuck with my top three to see how they would continue to develop.
Brand Identity
In order to maintain a cohesive brand identity across all elements of this project, I established a logo, brand color palette, pattern concept that relates to the logo, icon series, and typographic system. All of these brand identity elements were used throughout the banners, guidebook, kiosks, and event environment.
Banners
I designed banners so from outside the gym, people can get an idea of what the event is and also see some indication that they are headed in the right direction. The banners may also inspire people to check out the event even if they didn’t know about it yet.
Guidebook
As an integral part of the Alpine Edge project, I created a guidebook that outlines the things a new climber needs to know when they first pick up the new hobby. The book describes how climbing grades work, what different holds are used on the walls, tips and tricks for climbing, and what to expect as a new member to the community.
Kiosks
To make sure new climbers can find their way around the gym, I also designed two kiosks that help guide guests. One kiosk is meant to direct new guests to the front desk, where they can get checked in and receive an Alpine Edge guidebook. The other kiosk was inspired by the cam tool, so I wedged the logo between two walls and designed the kiosk to show new guests where they can start climbing.
Event Environment
After all branding and event components were made, I created a three dimensional render in Adobe Dimension of what the interior space of the environment might look like.
Here is a video walking through the environment, recorded using Aero!
